We can only cover excess charges that you (the policy holder) pays. This is because your policy is only designed to cover you.
To further explain; for an insurance policy to be enforced, the policy holder must have an insurable interest. Insurance is meant to put the insured (you) back in the same financial position they were in before a loss. If your company pays for the damage, even if on your behalf, you are not at a financial loss and the insurance won't cover this.
This applies even if your company then charge you because your policy with us will only reimburse charges made to you by a rental company. Not by your employer.
